Located in suburban Edmonton, Alberta, the RCMP “K-Division” headquarters is a labyrinth of laboratories, lecture halls, pistol ranges, and offices.
The Project
The Reliable Controls® MACH-System commands over 3,500 points hard-wired back to 15 MACH-Net™ building controllers and 450 VAV zone controllers distributed throughout the building. The project marks the first Reliable Controls® MACH-System BACnet® installation. The chilled water system and essential cooling loops are monitored and controlled by Tracer Summit BCUs manufactured by the Trane Corporation. All of the 150 chilled water and glycol system temperature/status inputs are fed back to a Reliable Controls® MACH-Net™ controller using the BACnet® protocol.
The Reliable Controls® MACH-System performs cooling demand calculations and delivers an enable/disable signal to activate the chiller system. Operator workstations running RC-Studio® 2.0 import the necessary data from the Tracer system using colourful and intuitive graphics without having to log onto a separate system.
The building’s staff are reportedly so comfortable that most of them don’t even know the control system exists.
